In addition to its cultural campaigns, UNESCO's AL..S (Art ,Literature and Science) is organizing its first global art contest themed "Africa through contemporary visual creation",  under the direction of Logos University Int.-Florida U.S.A.

Greek and foreign acclaimed artists are competing, each presenting one piece of artwork portraying Africa's culture, lifestyle and history and national problems.

Our local artist ms.Maria Kalatzi, a member of CLUB UNESCO Greece, is participating in the competition. Her work "Expectations" has symbolic connotations of a woman's day-to-day life in the land of Sahara, a woman who cannot dream but is suffocating from unfulfilled wishes yet still hopes for the future- not only for herself but her children too. [caption id="attachment_60829" align="alignnone" width="332"] OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA[/caption] The art pieces will be evaluated by the board of the University of Florida and the top three will be awarded. The results will be announced via Greek and Global press, while the award ceremony will take place in the space of Athens' War Museum during the 21st-24th September 2019, where all the artworks will be exhibited. Finally, all participants will receive UNESCO A.L.S  honours, as well as Logos University Contemporary African Studies and USA Accademic Field of United Nations honorary badges.
