This year, for the fourth consecutive year, four beaches in our Municipality can accommodate people with disabilities and those with mobility issues. You will find SEATRAC at the beaches of Agia Eleni, Agia Paraskevi, Koukounaries, and Vromolimnos.

SEATRAC is a non-permanent installation that serves hundreds of swimmers every year. Our Municipality has dynamically placed itself on the map of accessible tourism by providing infrastructure for everyone. The Municipality, in collaboration with TOBEA, offers everyone the opportunity to learn about SEATRAC and obtain the remote control for free. This enables free access at any time the swimmer wishes to visit the beach!

With over 1 billion people with disabilities worldwide, ensuring equal access is not only a human right but an obligation of every civilized place.

`A fundamental principle since we took office is that Skiathos should be open and accessible to all. Over the past three years, actions have been taken to ensure and protect the right of accessibility for people with mobility issues, making Skiathos accessible to everyone. Our fellow citizens and visitors with disabilities or mobility issues are equal members of our society, in every aspect and activity. Our goal is to improve the tourism product, develop infrastructure, and offer services based on international accessibility standards for people with disabilities. Clearly, there is still much to be done, but we are proud of what we have achieved and are particularly pleased that visitors with mobility issues can equally enjoy the beauty of our place,` stated the Mayor of Skiathos, Thodoris Tzoumas.

The Municipality will submit a proposal for funding to the Ministry of Tourism`s program `Improvement and modification of accessibility on Greek beaches.` The project funds the development of semi-permanent infrastructure interventions on beaches to improve accessibility for people with mobility issues or other disabilities. The maximum allowable budget for each beach cannot exceed the amount of 70,000 euros, with a maximum of four beaches per municipality. In total, the Municipality of Skiathos will submit a proposal for 280,000 euros."
