Friday 23rd of August marked 75 years since the island's burning by the Nazis during WWII. A service was held in the local church in memory of the people who died during the massacre, followed by a symbolic commemoration of honour of the war memorial in front of the port. The mayor of Skiathos along with the naval crew and local representatives were present in the ceremony and kept a minute of silence in the memory of those who sacrificed their life for the island. This Saturday, 24th August the 75th Festival of KNE will host an event dedicated to the combat of Skiathos against fascism. The event will include a photographic exhibition, a talk by V. Karpetas, secretary of KNE Volos, while Casette, a pop-rock group is invited to end the night on a musical note.
